The trend continues…more students are applying to college via early options. Depending on individual college policy, these options run the gamut from early action, restricted early action, early decision, to priority, rolling and more. Inside Higher Ed cites several colleges with increased early applications: New York University (up 5%), Smith College (up 6%), Duke University (up 32%), George Washington University (up 24%), Lawrence University (up 42%), and Dartmouth College (up 3%). If you received a school’s decision from these or other schools, you’re now committed to attend (hopefully, ecstatic!) or have the capability to respond to the college acceptance letter by spring of 2010. In either case, the pressure is off. Many of you are feeling the tremendous relief from a simple phrase, “Welcome to the Class of 2014”. Congratulations!
