Twice a year, the DEC Network spends one action packed week at the Independent Educational Consultants Association’s (IECA) national conference. Tomorrow, we head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to take advantage of the incredible opportunity to network with both hundreds of colleagues and admissions officers from all over the world as well as hear nationally recognized speakers, visit local Pennsylvania campuses and attend numerous educational sessions. In the beginning of the week, we’ll be reporting from the road about our impressions of  Swarthmore, Ursinus, Villanova, University of the Sciences, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and UPenn. Then, look for a summary on the message from keynote speaker, US Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan who believes “education is the most pressing issue facing America”.  And, join the IECA Book Club discussion on Amy Chua’s controversial, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother. Finally, we’ll keep you posted on what we learn from various conference sessions about hot topics in the field.
