The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the most widely used assessments in the world. Based on Carl Jung’s Psychological Type theories, the MBTI instrument was designed by a mother daughter team of Katharine Briggs and Isobel Myers to help connect personality preferences with suitable career opportunities. Today, both corporate and educational institutions encourage the use of assessments to provide valuable insight for individuals. How do you direct your energy; inward or outward? Do you prefer extroversion or introversion? Do you take in information based on your senses or more on your intuition? How do you make decisions; based on logic or feelings? What is your attitude toward the outside world? Do you value structure or flexibility? These questions and more were reviewed at a four day certification course in New York City last week. The more students and adult in transition know about themselves, the closer they get to a path that will lead them to fulfillment and success. My newly earned position as a certified practioner of the MBTI enhances the scope of services I can provide to client families. Dig further into the MBTI at http://tinyurl.com/oc44w.
