Just 75 miles from New York City, Vassar College is a beautiful and highly selective liberal arts campus set in the culturally rich Hudson Valley.  Defined by the admissions office as “talented, smart, inquisitive, open-minded and idealistic, students have the choice of majoring in one discipline, an interdepartmental or multidisciplinary program or they can design an independent major. There are no core curriculum requirements…a plus for many students! For the naturalist, you would be excited to know that the campus is a national arboretum with over 200 species of trees. And, the Shakespeare garden is quite a treasure, with the chosen assortment of flowers all identified in one of Shakespeare’s works. Vassar’s reputation is second to none in the Arts and we were quite impressed with Skinner Hall (comprehensive music library and two concert halls), the Vogelstein Center for Drama and Film, and The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center ( 16,000 sculptures, paintings and photographs). For students identifying Vassar as their number one choice, the Early Decision option provides a competitive benefit. And, in terms of price tag,  families will be happy to know that Vassar remains committed to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need.
