Congratulations to the Class of 2009!  What a pleasure to have worked alongside of you, watching your dreams become a reality. You are a talented group of Millenniels- determined, resilient and focused.  I wish you all the best as you say goodbye to your high school days and begin the exciting transition to college life. Before you know it, roommates will be determined, dorm rooms assigned and jaunts to Bed N Bath a daily activity. Facebook conversations will be dominated by new classmates and your mailbox filled with materials from your future alma mater. You may at times feel overwhelmed by all the decisions. If I can give you one piece of advice, don’t be shy about signing up for pre-orientation programs which run the gamut from community service to outdoor adventure. These programs offer you the opportunity to form early lasting relationships with other freshman and upperclassmen before the first day of school. Imagine the great feeling of spotting several friendly faces as you navigate campus, classrooms and the cafeteria once the new year begins. Additional advice on transitioning to college life can be found in publications such as  Been There Should’ve Done, More Tips for Making the Most of College by Suzette Tyler.
