Let’s face it. A visit to the cafeteria is on every college campus tour because the admissions office knows food quality is on the mind of every prospective student (and their parents, too!). Competition is fierce among colleges to wow their visitors and keep their matriculants happy with a plethora of meal choices above and beyond mom’s homecooking. Who does the best job? From Her Campus Loft blog, Alison Goldman sites winners in the category of best cafeteria food as Bowdoin College, St. Olaf University, University of California/Los Angeles, Cornell University, Middlebury College, James Madison University, Virginia Tech, Colby College, Northeastern University and Bryn Mawr  College. What do these schools offer ahead of their competition? In part, state of the art, green dining halls with tempting food stations ranging from international and vegan to pasta, sushi, and so much more. Increasingly, colleges are also offering organic meals, forming partnerships with local farmers and producers. And, for those who can’t stay away from the allure of their favorite franchise, you can find the likes of Chick-fil-A®, Pizza Hut®, and Cinnabon® in many of the facilities. Coffee addicts should note that Starbucks is everywhere! Check out Alison’s blog at www.hercampus.com.
